CNC Machinist Okuma Lathe and Mill Turn - 2nd Shift 10% shift pay and $1,500 sign on bonus

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, routing, inspection, and setup requirements.
  2. Select, align, and secure holding fixtures and accessories on machines.
  3. Select, align, and secure cutting tools into tool holders and install tool assemblies on machines.
  4. Load and secure raw material on machine.
  5. For manual operations, calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
  6. For CNC operations, retrieve current revision machine control program and download to machine.
  7. Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls as required.
  8. Unload finished machined part from machine and deburr as necessary to perform quality checks.
  9. Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications manually or through the use of a CMM / DCC-CMM. Enter required data into quality documentation and sign as required.
  10. Perform daily housekeeping and maintenance on assigned machine, auxiliary equipment, tooling, and work area.
  11. Confers with engineers, programmers, inspectors, or maintenance personnel to resolve machining or assembly problems.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED; VoTech Trade school graduate preferred. Completed a machining-related apprenticeship program or 3-5 years equivalent experience.

Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Present numerical data effectively and write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups.

Math Ability

Work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts like fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions. Compute rate, ratio, and percent, and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Solve practical problems, interpret instructions, and resolve issues in a timely manner. Gather and analyze information, develop solutions, and work well in group problem-solving situations.

Computer Skills

Possess basic computer skills.

Work Environment

Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; noise level usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Physical Demands

Regularly stand and use hands; frequently walk and reach; occasionally sit. Lift up to 10 lbs regularly, 25 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally. Specific vision abilities include close vision and depth perception.
