Qualifications

• Interpret technical drawings and dimensional specs for precision parts.

• Solid math skills including fractional and decimal calculations.
• CNC machining experience (typically 2–4 years).
• Independently set up milling machines with minimal supervision.
• Able to train peers on milling equipment.
• Complete a mid-level milling competency assessment (written and practical).
• Read, interpret, and understand CNC programs.
• Use standard precision measurement tools accurately.
• Perform tool touch-offs and offsets on milling machines.
• Evaluate tool life and select tooling accordingly.
• Respond to unexpected machine stoppages appropriately.
• Identify surface finish issues and implement fixes.
• Understand speeds and feeds adjustments.
• Troubleshoot basic machine and process issues.
• Set up and run parts efficiently with minimal scrap.
• Operate multiple machines simultaneously.
• Maintain productivity levels aligned with team standards.
• Follow written and verbal instructions.

Machining / CNC Technical Requirements

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and dimensional specifications for precision-machined components

• Strong mechanical reasoning and hands-on problem-solving capability

• Proficiency using common shop tools, including manual finishing and material removal tools

• Solid applied mathematics skills, including fractional and decimal calculations and conversions

• Demonstrated CNC machining experience (typically 2 - 4 years or equivalent technical competency)

• Ability to independently perform milling machine setups with minimal supervision

• Ability to train and support peers on milling equipment

• Ability to successfully complete a mid-level milling competency assessment (written and practical)

• Ability to read, interpret, and understand CNC programs

• Proficiency using standard precision measurement tools

• Ability to perform tool touch-offs and adjust offsets on milling machines

• Ability to evaluate tool life and select appropriate tooling applications

• Ability to respond appropriately to unexpected machine stoppages
