Job summary

Pankl Aerospace Systems seeks an experienced CNC Machinist / Machine Operator to set up and run CNC and manual machining equipment for high-precision aerospace components. You will read blueprints, maintain quality, and support continuous improvement within a collaborative team in Cerritos, CA.

Strong manufacturing background in aerospace is preferred; reading engineering drawings and GD&T proficiency are essential to meet strict specifications and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years machining/manufacturing experience.
  • Machining certification or equivalent experience.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and GD&T.
  • Experience with inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges).

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, mill-turns, hobbers, grinders and manual machines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering documents.
  • Meet daily production schedules and quality standards.
  • Perform preventive machine maintenance and record data in ERP systems.
  • Participate in RCCA activities and cross-train team members.

Position Summary

Are you an experienced machinist looking to grow your career in aerospace manufacturing? As a CNC Machinist /Machine Operator, you will play a critical role in producing high-precision components by setting up and operating CNC and manual machining equipment while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Working as part of a collaborative production team, you will help meet customer demands, troubleshoot challenges, perform inspections, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Key Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of machining/manufacturing experience
  • Machining certification or equivalent experience
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, setup sheets, and work instructions
  • Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Basic computer and shop math skills
  • Strong English reading and writing skills
  • Experience with inspection and measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, optical comparators, plug gauges, ring gauges, etc.)
  • Familiarity with AS9100, flight safety requirements, 5S, and continuous improvement practices
Core Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate:
    • CNC lathes
    • CNC mills (up to 5-axis)
    • CNC mill-turn machines
    • CNC hobbers
    • CNC cylindrical grinders
    • Manual machining equipment (lathes, honing, thread grinding, etc.)
  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering documents
  • Meet daily production schedules and quality standards
  • Perform preventive machine maintenance
  • Record production data in ERP systems
  • Participate in problem-solving and root cause corrective action (RCCA) activities
  • Report production issues promptly
  • Cross-train team members and support continuous improvement efforts
