Responsibilities

• Create standard work procedures and update processes as problems are identified and eliminated.
• Maintain operator level 3 skill status on all production CNC's.
• Ability to troubleshoot NC code on all production machines.
• Proof new programs, fixtures and setups before handoff to normal production.
• Provide programming suggestions to improve stability, delivery, tool path alignment, etc.
• Manage production TPM intervals to prevent breakdowns, long cycle times, or rework.
• Comply with safe work practices; understand injury procedures, workers' comp, and OSHA standards.
• Solve tooling issues by evaluating tooling productivity and performance, and assess new tooling requirements.
• Understand SPC principles such as Cp and Cpk and maintain a process-capable environment for operators.
• Discuss potential rework strategies that may be deployed.
• Collect accurate process metrics through new product introduction and process improvements.
• Schedule flexibility as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

The Machinist is an essential support role tasked with resolving technical production abnormalities in a timely manner to avoid unplanned machine downtime. This is a shop-wide responsibility including Mills, EDM's, Lathe's, and Swiss machines. The machinist will also perform skill verification of personnel, teach Cell Leads best practice in problem solving methods, and collaborate with the programming group for mistake proofing techniques and manufacturing optimization.

Job Responsibilities

• Create standard work procedures and update processes and procedures as problems are identified and eliminated
• Maintain operator level 3 skill status on all production CNC's
• Ability to troubleshoot NC code on all production machines
• Proof new programs, fixtures and setups before handoff to normal production
• Provide programming suggestions to improve stability, delivery, tool path alignment, etc.
• Manage production responsible TPM intervals to ensure we don't observe breakdowns, long cycle times, rework, etc.
• Comply with safe work practices; understanding work injury procedures, workers comp, and OSHA standards
