Job summary

The Marvin Group, based in Southern California near LAX, is seeking a CNC Machinist II for 100% onsite work. The role requires 3–5 years of machining experience, strong blueprint reading, and proficiency with Mazak, DMG Mori, Okuma, and OKK machines.

You will set up and operate mills and lathes, ensure part quality, and meet cycle times while maintaining a safe, clean work environment. Monday–Friday, 2:30PM–11:30PM schedule.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and sketches.
• Able to lift up to 35 lbs and wear PPE at all times.
• Speak/read/write English fluently to follow procedures and safety rules.
• Experience operating CNC mills and/or lathes with Mazak/DMG Mori/Okuma/OKK.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Teams) for reporting.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Vertical/Horizontal/5-axis Mills and Lathes with minimal supervision.
• Understand fixturing and tooling; perform setups independently.
• Work from complex blueprints and manufacturing sketches.
• Use measuring instruments to verify parts meet blueprint specs.
• Ensure product quality and meet established cycle times.
• Perform routine maintenance and keep area organized; log labor hours in ERP.
• Contribute ideas to reduce setup times and improve cycle times.

Scope

The CNC Machinist II will be responsible for set up and operations of CNC Mill machines used in Manufacturing and Fabrication of aircraft/ military components.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up Vertical, Horizontal, 5 axis Mills/ Lathes under minimal supervision such as: Mazak, DMG Mori, Okuma, and OKK


• Have a good understanding of fixturing and tooling and be capable of performing setups independently


• Must be able to work from complex Blueprints and manufacturing sketches


• Uses a variety of measuring instruments in production to ensure parts are meeting Blueprint requirements


• Responsible for the quality of their product


• Responsible for meeting established cycle times


• Performs routine daily maintenance and housekeeping duties


• Utilize ERP system to accurately record labor hours and production quantity


• Suggests recommendations to Supervisor or Leads concerning process improvements, program edits and corrections needed to reduce set up times as well as improve cycle times


• Perform standard shop computations


• Understanding of lean and 6S concepts


• Follow Safety and FOD procedures

Skills / Requirements

• Able to speak/read/write English.


• Able to lift up to 35 lbs.


• Wear PPE at all times ( Safety Shoes and Safety Glasses)


• Have 3 - 5 years experience in a machining environment.


• Have a Highschool Diploma or G.E.D Equivalent


• Experience using Mazak, DMG Mori, Okuma, and OKK machines


• Ability to use Microsoft Office software, i.e., Outlook, MS Teams, Excel, etc. is required


• Experience operating CNC Mills and/or Lathes is acceptable


• Working Knowledge of fixturing, tooling, and machine setups


• Experience reading and understanding complex Blueprints

Work Environment

• Regularly required to stand for long periods of time


• Manufacturing and/or Machining environment


• Fast paced, as people and parts are moving


• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to medium


• Exposed to combination of potential odors from chemicals and/or processes
