Job summary

KARL STORZ is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team on second shift. You will set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and Swiss-style machines to manufacture high-precision medical device components.

Work from blueprints and setup sheets to ensure components meet exact specifications with the highest quality standards. This on-site role offers a Monday-Friday shift from 3:30 PM to Midnight, in our onsite manufacturing facility, with opportunities for continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience setting up CNC machines using layouts, setup sheets, and process documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Experience inspecting machined components and documenting measurement data.
  • Ability to edit CNC programs and make process adjustments as required.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and Swiss-style machines to manufacture precision components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and work instructions to ensure accurate machining and inspection requirements.
  • Inspect components to blueprint specifications and accurately record measurement data.
  • Edit CNC programs, make machine offsets, and perform process adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot machine setup, tooling, and production issues using sound problem-solving techniques.
  • Perform routine TPM activities to support equipment reliability and performance.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis and solution implementation.
  • Maintain accurate production, inspection, and quality records in compliance with company requirements.

About the Role

KARL STORZ is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team on second shift. In this hands‑on role, you will set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and Swiss‑style machines to manufacture high‑precision medical device components that support life‑changing healthcare technologies.

Working from blueprints, setup sheets, and machining documentation, you will ensure components meet exact specifications while maintaining the highest quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a machinist who enjoys problem‑solving, continuous improvement, and working in a precision‑driven manufacturing environment.

Shift: Monday-Friday, 3:30 PM-Midnight

Work Location: Onsite Manufacturing Facility

What You’ll Do
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and Swiss‑style machines to manufacture precision components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and work instructions to ensure accurate machining and inspection requirements are met.
  • Inspect components to blueprint specifications and accurately record measurement and quality data.
  • Edit CNC programs, make machine offsets, and perform process adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot machine setup, tooling, and production issues using sound problem‑solving techniques.
  • Perform routine Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities to support equipment reliability and performance.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis and solution implementation.
  • Maintain accurate production, inspection, and quality records in compliance with company requirements.
What You Bring
  • 3-5+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience setting up CNC machines using layouts, setup sheets, and process documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Experience inspecting machined components and documenting measurement data.
  • Ability to edit CNC programs and make process adjustments as required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
  • Ability to perform basic TPM activities on manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Willingness to learn, develop new skills, and grow within the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience machining medical device components.
  • Familiarity with GMP requirements and regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working with exotic metals such as nitinol, stainless steel, and nickel alloys.
  • Knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulations, ISO 13485, and ISO 9001 standards.
