Job summary

ITT Inc. in Amory, MS, is seeking a Machine Shop Operator to set up and operate manual Vertical Mills, Lathes, and Drills, with CNC experience.

You will study blueprints and specifications, perform turning, facing, chamfering, and other operations on various castings and parts, measure and mark dimensions, and ensure conformance to specs while maintaining a clean, safe work area. Qualifications

• High School Diploma and up to 2 – 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

• Operate ALL equipment by following all safety rules to include Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE), machine guarding, hazard communications, etc.
• Studies blue prints, sketches, drawings, or specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Performs a wide range of turning, facing chamfering, cutting off and similar machining operations, on a variety of castings, parts, rework, re-machining, etc. of various materials.
• Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, etc.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, depth and angle of cut.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
• Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
• Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings.
• Keep work area clean and orderly.
• Report all unusual conditions to supervisor.
• This position requires visibility to controlled documents

EDUCATIONAL & EXPERENCE

Equal Pay Act Range

$26.76 to $28.90 , plus benefit and potential bonus
