Job summary

Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation is hiring for a CNC machinist to support weekend shifts in Michigan. You will study blueprints, set up mills and lathes, and verify tolerances while collaborating with engineers and production teams.

The role offers a weekend schedule (Fri-Sun, 6:00am-6:00pm) with starting pay of $25.56/hour plus a $1.00 shift premium, and a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) and health coverage.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, drawings, manuals to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Follow sequence of operations and setup requirements.
• Measure and mark dimensions on materials as a guide for machining.
• Set up and operate mills, lathes and grinders safely.
• Enter commands to machine control media and adjust as needed.
• Verify finished workpiece meets specifications; perform trial runs.

Shift Available:

• Weekend Shift: 6:00am-6:00pm Friday-Sunday. Starting pay is $25.56/hour + $1.00 shift premium.

JOB DUTIES:

• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces
• Demonstrate the ability to follow the sequence of operations and setup requirements
• Measures, marks, scribes dimensions, and reference points on material or workpieces as a guide for subsequent machining
• Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes and grinders
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut
• Enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, adjusting machine controls or control media as required
• Verifies compliance of finished workpiece to specifications
• Sets up and operates the machine on trial run to verify accuracy of the machine settings or the programmed control data
• Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly
• Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly
• Ability to identify worn tooling, installing replacement inserts, grind wheels and carbide cutters on equipment and maintains daily PM as required
• Collaborates with engineers, production personnel, programmers or others to resolve machining or assembly problems
• Experience with CNC controls: Fanuc, Mazatrol and Okuma OSP desired

Basic Qualifications:

• High school diploma with up to 3 months related workplace experience, or six months vocational/technical training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Demonstrate the ability to accurately complete all work-related documents
• Understand basic operating principles for all plant machinery
• Fluency in English (read, write, comprehend)
• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems
• Must have mechanical aptitude
• Observe safety and security procedures

Summary Pay Range:

$23.00 - $29.90
