Job description

Prepares detailed numerical controlled programs for fabricating parts on CNC mills and lathes. Develops original operation sequences and recommends changes in machining process to enhance efficiency and/or quality. Determines setup and fixture requirements for alternate methods of machining. Performs operation of CNC machines ensuring end product meets tolerance levels and drawing specifications. Works with minimal supervision. Resolves most questions and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher levels.

Essential Job Functions

1. Programs jobs using G and M codes and Gibbs/Cam systems.
2. Performs complex set-ups.
3. Designs and builds basic fixtures and tooling as required for setups.
4. Revises or updates programs to reflect shop, engineering or program changes.
5. Prepares instructions for machine setup and operation.
6. Troubleshoots and resolves basic problems.
7. Performs functional operating adjustments on equipment to obtain quality production.
8. Correctly reads and interprets blueprints and drawings.
9. Works with team members to improve quality in production.
10. Other duties as assigned.
