Job summary

The Marvin Engineering Company, based in Southern California near LAX, is seeking a CNC Machinist I to operate mills and lathes and read complex blueprints for aircraft and military components.

You will perform setups, use varied measuring tools, and ensure parts meet blueprint requirements. The role emphasizes lean and 6S, safety, and accurate ERP data entry.

• 1-2 years experience in a Machining environment.

Responsibilities

SCOPE

The CNC Machinist I will be responsible for operating CNC Mill and Lathe machines used in Manufacturing and Fabrication of aircraft/ military components.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate Vertical and Horizontal Mills/ Lathes under minimal supervision such as: Mazak, DMG Mori, Okuma, OKK
• Have a good understanding of fixturing and tooling and be capable of performing setups independently
• Must be able to work from complex Blueprints and manufacturing sketches
• Uses a variety of measuring instruments in production to ensure parts are meeting Blueprint requirements
• Responsible for the quality of their product
• Responsible for meeting established cycle times
• Perform routine daily maintenance and housekeeping duties.
• Utilize ERP system to accurately record labor hours and production quantity
• Suggests recommendations to Supervisor or Leads concerning process improvements, program edits and corrections needed to reduce set up times as well as improve cycle times
• Perform standard shop computations
• Understanding of lean and 6S concepts
• Follow Safety and FOD procedures

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS

• Speak/read/write English
• Able to lift up to 35 lbs
• Wear PPE at all times ( Safety Shoes and Safety Glasses)
• Have 1 - 2 years experience in a Machining environment
• Have a Highschool Diploma or G.E.D Equivalent
• Experience using Mazak, DMG Mori, Okuma, and OKK Machines
• Working Knowledge of fixturing, tooling, and machine setups
• Experience reading and understanding complex Blueprints

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Regularly required to stand for long periods of time
• Manufacturing and/or Machining environment
• Fast paced, as people and parts are moving
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to medium
• Exposed to combination of potential odors from chemicals and/or processes
