Qualifications

  • 5+ years machining experience on CNC equipment or related degree/equivalent
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions
  • Strong English communication; attention to detail
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work independently in a fast-paced shop

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate and maintain CNC Lathe/Vertical Mill including 5,4,3-axis machines; follow tool touch-off and offsets.
  • Changeover products with fixtures, stops, datum offsets; monitor tool wear and replacement needs.
  • Keep work area clean; maintain coolant systems and use refractometer for fluid checks.
  • Receive and verify work orders; meet or exceed production quotas.
  • Determine tool offsets, use MDI, edit programs; respond to alarms; troubleshoot equipment.
  • Identify root causes and streamline machining processes; document revisions to routings.
  • Train CNC operators; suggest improvements; document work instructions and quality records.
  • Operate secondary machines and deburring/cleaning; assist with cross-training.
  • Collaborate with management to address manufacturing issues.

The CNC Machinist Iis responsible fortheset-up and operation of CNC and manual machines as well as theinspection of parts.Must have the ability to follow written instructions andisresponsibleformonitoringthe equipment to its full capacity.Must have the ability to perform work accordingto specifications and company quality standards.

Key Accountabilities
  • Proficient in the setup, use and basic maintenance of CNC Lathe or CNC Vertical Mill inclusiveof 5, 4and 3axis milling machines.This includes interacting with all aspects of a machine’s controls and operating software as well as comprehension of tool touch off procedure with understanding of tool compensation and wear offsets to deliver product within specification
  • Responsible for the changeover of product with basic set up including work holding fixtures, stops, datum offsets and indicators. Monitors wear conditions on all cutting tools todeterminereplacement frequency
  • Ensures work area, machine tooling and parts are cleaned regularly and free from excess oil deposits;maintainscoolant and machine lubrication fluid systems, must use a refractometer
  • Receives work orders and verifies that the components are correct.Regularly meetsor exceeds production quotas

Determineand implement cutting tool offsets, use MDI and assist with editing programs; evaluate and act upon machine alarms and error messages. Trouble shoots and repair equipment when not operating properly. Determine and

implement alternative tooling approaches when the need arises. Identify root causes of problems and resolves without supervision. Ability to streamline machining processes.

Participates in activities related to new product development and implementation into production.

Trains CNC Machine Operators on machinery, including but not limited to training and mentoring. Proposes continuous improvement opportunities for all processes. Will document and submit to management all necessary revisions to Work Order Routings, Work Instructions and Quality Inspection documentation.

Operates various secondary and special purpose machines including drill presses and trademarking fixtures and mechanical presses along with performing deburring product and chip cleaning operations.

Collaborates with management to identify manufacturing issues andassistswith cross training efforts, when necessary.
