Responsibilities

  • Load and unload parts into CNC machining centers used for secondary machining of die cast components.
  • Start machine cycles and monitor operations for obvious issues or alarms.
  • Perform basic part inspection using go/no-go gauges and simple measuring tools as trained.
  • Visually inspect parts for defects, damage, or obvious nonconformities.
  • Follow work instructions, job travelers, and inspection plans exactly as written.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with safety and 5S standards.
  • Handle parts carefully to prevent damage or mix-ups.
  • Accurately record production counts and inspection results.
  • Communicate concerns or abnormal conditions to Machinist II/III, leads, or supervisors.
  • Participate in training activities and demonstrate a willingness to learn machining skills.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
  • Mechanical aptitude and interest in CNC machining or manufacturing
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a structured production environment
  • Basic math skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to work assigned shifts and overtime as required
Knowledge & Skill Expectations (Machinist I Level)
A Machinist I is expected to:
  • Safely operate machines after training and follow all safety rules
  • Understand basic machine controls (start, stop, cycle hold, emergency stop)
  • Perform repetitive tasks consistently and accurately
  • Use simple measuring tools and understand pass/fail criteria
  • Recognize obvious quality issues and elevate promptly
A Machinist I is not expected to:
  • Set up machines or change tooling
  • Adjust offsets or modify CNC programs
  • Interpret complex blueprints or GD&T
  • Troubleshoot machining or process issues independently
