Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a CNC Machinist - Horizontal Lathe Operator for our Erlanger, KY Service Center. You will service and manufacture large scale power generation equipment following blueprints and work instructions.

This onsite role runs Monday to Friday, with 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM shift and optional weekend work. The position requires 3+ years CNC machining experience, familiarity with Mazak horizontal turning, Mazatrol, and FANUC controls, and a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years CNC machining experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Mazak, Mazatrol and FANUC controls.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operate CNC Horizontal Lathes.
• Read CNC programs and interpret G & M codes and Mazatrol.
• Edit CNC programs to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
• Read engineered blueprints and apply geometric tolerances.
• Use inspection tools to verify tolerances and measurements.

The Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist - Horizontal Lathe Operator you will work at the Erlanger, KY Service Center to service and manufacture large scale, power generation equipment along with their subassemblies by following blueprints and specific work instructions.

This is an onsite position only available at our Erlanger, KY Service Center. The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, with weekend work as optional. Available shift is 6:45AM to 3:15PM.

Our Erlanger, KY Service Center is responsible for manufacturing/assembly and/or repairs of large utility grade Steam Turbines and Generators.

Job Description

Responsibilities

• Work in a shop environment safely with zero accidents and/or injuries
• Set-up and operate CNC Horizontal Lathes
• Read CNC programs, familiar with G & M codes and Mazatrol
• Make edits to CNC programs to maximize efficiency and reduce error
• Read and interpret Engineered Blue Print dwgs
• Understand and apply geometric tolerances
• Set up and safely use various inspection tools and gages (i.e. inner diameter (I/D) & outer diameter (O/D) Mics, calipers, Pi-tape, bore gages, Tri-mics, thread gages, etc... )
• Machine to required tolerances of .0005” - .005”
• Determine optimal machining feeds and speeds and tool selections
• Work effectively with team to ensure successful delivery to customer

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED
• 3+ years CNC Machining Experience

Desired Characteristics

• Ability to follow all safety rules and wear all PPE as required.
• Experience with Mazak horizontal turning, vertical turning is a plus.
• Experience with Mazatrol, FANUC controls is a plus.
• Experience with Mazatrol programming is a plus.
• Proven ability to use shop math, including trigonometry and geometry.
• Ability to follow work rules, carry out instructions either written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Desire to take ownership and accountability in work and in company success.
• Ability to work in a lean and fast-paced environment.

Pay Transparency

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the base pay for this position is$33- $40/hr. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety offactors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
