Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain world-class machines for aerospace components.

You will contribute to first article success on tight tolerance parts, and support machining of thrust chamber assemblies across Blue Origin facilities. A strong background in NC programming and GD&T is expected, with emphasis on safety and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years CNC machining experience.
  • 2+ years working with super alloys and hardened metals.
  • Experience with Mazak, Hass, DMG Mori, Mori Seiki, and/or Okuma CNC machines.
  • Working knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, Mazatrol or other CNC controls.
  • Excellent blueprint reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.
  • Familiar with use of personal computers.
  • Ability to provide Design for Manufacturing feedback.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national or eligible to work in the U.S.

Role Summary

As part of a hardworking team of Machinists, NC Programmers and Technicians you will setup, operate and maintain world class, state of the art CNC machines to fabricate components for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of CNC machining and fabrication. You will be responsible for setting up and operating a variety of CNC machines and equipment to produce accurate components enabling first article success on tight tolerance, high value parts. This team in particular owns the machining of all components for Blue Origin Engine Thrust Chamber Assemblies.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of CNC machining experience
  • 2+ years working with super alloys and hardened metals.
  • Experience with one or more of the following CNC machines: Mazak, Hass, DMG Mori, Mori Seiki, and/or Okuma
  • Working knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, Mazatrol or other CNC controls
  • Excellent blue print reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard
  • Familiar with use of personal computers
  • Ability to provide Design for Manufacturing feedback
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, stairs, work in small/restricted areas, and lift and carry 25 lbs.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired
  • Tooling and fixture design.
  • Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) experience
  • Outside processing knowledge including: heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.
  • CMM programming/operation experience
  • CNC programming skills, preferably Mastercam X6 thru 2018
  • Conversational programming on the machine
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts
