Job summary

MTI Motion's Muskego location has partnered with the State of WI to launch a Registered Apprenticeship Program for a Journeyman CNC Machinist. The 4-year program blends hands-on training with weekly college instruction and aims to certify Journeyman status while maintaining employment at MTI Motion.

Apprentices will train across manual and CNC machining processes, attend technical college part-time, and progress through projects under skilled peers, ensuring readiness for highly skilled roles in

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 2-year CNC / Machining Degree or equivalent machining experience.
• Excellent communication skills; able to read, write, follow detailed instructions, use PC.
• Solid mechanical ability / troubleshooting experience / attention to detail / teamwork.
• Can-do attitude and approach to all assignments.
• Ability to learn from peer machinists / be accountable for advancing individual knowledge through feedback.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve job related information: routing, drawing, program, inspection sheets.
• Review raw material for dimensions, quantity, defects, maintain heat lot traceability.
• Perform change-over activities through first piece inspection and edits-offsets.
• Utilize precision tools and gages to measure part features and document results.
• Learn to detect and troubleshoot machining and programming issues as they occur.
• Operate secondary equipment to finish and clean parts for subsequent operations.
• Maintain attention to detail to achieve quality and production results.
• Record labor and production information using PC or Laptop.
• Follow prescribed safety rules and procedures for all work.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and keep work area clean.
