Job summary

Saint-Gobain/CertainTeed in the United States seeks a skilled CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC machines, edit CNC programs, and inspect parts to blueprint specs. You will review orders, prepare tools, run and document processes, and maintain logs to ensure quality and accuracy.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma (or equivalent), hands-on CNC experience with the Multus and other machines, and the ability to meet production deadlines while adhering to safety procedures.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
In-depth knowledge of CNC set-up and operation and CNC program editing.
Ability to read and interpret orders, charts and blueprints; shop math skills.
Experience programming and operating the Multus; familiarity with Doosan/Haas/Hardinge/Captain/LB4000 preferred.
Must work to meet deadlines and ensure on-time, high-quality parts delivery.

Responsibilities

Read and review customer order instructions and blueprint specifications.
Set up and operate CNC machines, making machine adjustments as needed.
Perform own inspections using micrometers, verniers and other gauges.
Maintain records and logs of processes, materials and results.
Follow safety procedures and wear required PPE.

Set up and operate CNC Machines and edit CNC programs. Applies general knowledge of machining techniques and methods to ensure that machines are operating correctly and that machined parts are cut to specifications. Uses precision measuring instruments to confirm conformity to order.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY:

Read and review customer order instructions and blueprint specifications.
Secure necessary raw materials, fixtures, punches, tools, gauges, etc. for the job.
Set up and operate CNC machines, making machine adjustments to produce required results.
Perform own inspections (visual, optically, micrometer, verniers, indicator, etc.)
Process parts as needed, including samples.
Use a variety of hand and power tools common to the trade.
Maintain accurate records and logs of processes, materials and results.
Assure tools and machines are maintained in clean and proper condition for usage.
Follow all safety procedures, including wearing of required protective equipment.

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

A High School diploma or its equivalency is required, technical school training, apprenticeship program or equivalent.
In depth knowledge of set up and operations of CNC Machines and editing CNC programs required.
Knowledge of machining techniques with high degree of difficulties.
Experience programming and operating the Multus is required.
Knowledge of operation of a Doosan, Haas, Hardinge, Captain and LB4000 desired.
Must be able to work with deadlines and production schedules to assure a quality product is delivered on time to the customers.
Successful work experience operating CNC metal fabricating machines (lathes, drills, grinders, etc.) desired.
Candidate must possess skill and knowledge in the set-up, adjustment and operation of machine shop equipment.
Ability to read and interpret work orders, charts and blueprints and specifications, as well as skill and knowledge necessary in utilizing shop math and measuring instruments is required.
Adherence to Quality Policy and Standard Operating Procedures and knowledge of those procedures will be a part of the daily process.
Must be motivated, focused, and clear thinking. Ability to work safely and utilize good housekeeping is mandatory.
