Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The CNC Machinist will work efficiently within a cell of three machines setup and run lathe equipment to run production of a variety of high precision, high-quality workpieces for the firearms industry in the Vortakt Division of Entrust Manufacturing Technologies, Inc. This work, conducted in a bright, temperature-controlled environment, utilizes updated equipment and the most up-to-date technology. The cell operator is responsible for consistency in production, quality inspection and cell maintenance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Utilizing documentation, selects appropriate tooling, gauging and supplies to prepare the cell for production
  • Performs machine setup and tool change
  • Operates equipment efficiently, monitoring machine performance and workpiece quality to ensure specifications and production rates are being met.
  • Performs quality checks as specified per workpiece to ensure proper tolerances are held
  • Prepares cell performance documentation reports/checklists
  • Cleans and packages workpieces for effective material handling
  • May operate material handling equipment as needed to deliver stock to cell or stage completed product for shipment
  • Communicates with others in the department to ensure the smooth flow of work
  • Maintains a clean working environment through machine cleaning, tool organization, chip clearing, cutting oil maintenance, etc.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5+ years machine operation experience
  • Attention to detail and a desire to maintain high standards of workmanship
  • Applicant should be mechanically inclined, have good problem-solving skills, be able to work independently, be self-motivated and possess the ability to do highly accurate work that requires concentration and physical effort
  • Flexibility - willingness to operate other equipment, perform work outside job duties when asked and work overtime hours when requiredPosition will be payrolled through a temporary service for 90 days depending on skill level and demonstrated capabilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Regularly lifts up to 20 pounds unassisted. Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds unassisted. Occasional use of overhead cranes for lifts greater than 50 pounds
  • Regularly stands for entire shift (10 hours)
  • Regularly bends, stoops, reaches, climbs and moves
  • Regularly exerts up to 10 pounds of force and frequently exerts up to 25 pounds of force to move objects
  • Work environment is bright and temperature controlled
  • The nature of the work involves contact with various metals and oils
