This role is part of our Tactical Missiles and Integrated Defense Systems business, which designs and develops integrated missile and defense systems that support critical missions across air, land, and sea. We combine comprehensive analysis, engineering, and program execution capabilities to deliver mission-tailored solutions that reduce lead times, lower costs, and simplify complex multi-vendor supply chains. Backed by decades of flight-proven and fielded performance, we design and build mission-critical technologies including launch systems, propulsion, payload integration solutions, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) components, missile subsystems, and Safe & Arm systems. As a CNC Machinist, you support the production of precision components by operating multi-axis computer numerical control (CNC) milling and turning equipment. You contribute to accurate, efficient manufacturing by completing setups, interpreting technical documentation, inspecting measurements, and ensuring each part meets strict specifications. Your work directly supports high-quality hardware delivered for critical defense applications.

Responsibilities
  • Operates multi-axis computer numerical control (CNC) milling and turning machines to produce precision components.
  • Sets up jobs, selects tooling, configures machine parameters, and prepares work-holding solutions.
  • Reviews sketches, drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure accurate part production.
  • Takes precise measurements using calipers, micrometers (mics), height gages, and other standard tools.
  • Monitors machining operations and adjusts parameters to maintain accuracy and part quality.
  • Inspects completed parts, documents quality results, and addresses defects.
  • Performs routine machine maintenance and minor repairs to ensure reliable operation.
  • Maintains inventory of completed parts and keeps the work area organized.
  • Follows traveler steps and production processes to complete assigned work.
  • Adheres to all safety policies and works independently to complete daily tasks.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating multi-axis (5 or more) CNC mills and lathes.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot quick-change work-holding systems.
  • Ability to use and troubleshoot high-performance tool-holding solutions.
  • Experience operating HAAS and/or Fanuc equipment.
  • Understanding of G-code and ability to make minor edits at the machine control.
  • Excellent coordination and mechanical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in math.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Conventional machining experience.
  • Machining training.
  • Mastercam experience.
  • Machine programming experience.
  • Current or active security clearance.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying up to 50 lbs, minimum 35 lbs.
  • Constant standing or walking for at least 8 hours.
  • Required repetitive movement for prolonged periods.
  • Frequent holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands.
  • Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and sounds such as machinery alarms. The essential functions of this position must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
