Job summary

Molex Aerospace & Defense Solutions (ADS) is seeking a CNC Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain CNC equipment producing precision aerospace components. You will collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production to ensure repeatable, high-quality outputs and support lean initiatives.

The role requires ability to read engineering drawings, use precision measuring tools, and uphold safety and quality standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and related equipment.

• Perform in-process and final inspections with precision instruments.
• Verify conformance to specifications and quality requirements.

• Replace cutting tools and perform tooling maintenance.
• Maintain routine machine maintenance and housekeeping.
• Complete production records and inspection documentation.
• Support first article inspections and process validation.
• Participate in continuous improvement focused on safety, quality, productivity.

As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machining equipment to produce precision components that meet quality, delivery, and safety requirements. You will support daily manufacturing operations while working closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to ensure efficient and repeatable machining processes. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement efforts and support the growth of our machining capabilities within Molex Aerospace & Defense Solutions.

What You Will Do

• Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment to manufacture precision components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and process documentation.
• Load materials, fixtures, and tooling and verify machine setup prior to production.
• Monitor machine performance and make tool and offset adjustments as needed to maintain product quality.
• Perform in-process and final inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Verify product conformance to specifications, blueprints, and quality requirements.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and elevate concerns related to tooling, equipment, or product quality.
• Replace cutting tools and support tooling maintenance activities.
• Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and housekeeping activities.
• Accurately complete production records, inspection documentation, and manufacturing data.
• Support first article inspections and process validation activities.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
• Follow all environmental, health, safety, and quality procedures.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience operating CNC machining equipment in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Knowledge of machining fundamentals including tooling, feeds, speeds, and tolerances.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What Will Put You Ahead

• CNC machining certification or technical degree.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, medical, or other high-precision manufacturing industries.
• Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Experience with multi-axis CNC equipment.
• Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing execution systems.
• Experience supporting lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
