Job summary

Leupold & Stevens, Inc. in Beaverton, OR, seeks a CNC Production Machinist 2 for Wed-Sat, 3:30 PM–2:00 AM. A century‑old American manufacturer, we deliver battle‑tested optics for hunters, shooters, and professionals.

You will operate and set up turning centers and secondary machines, inspect parts to GD&T specs, conduct SPC, and train teammates. Relocation to Beaverton, OR is required. Benefits include health/dental insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401(k) with up to 8% company contributions,

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 4+ years machining/manufacturing experience.
• Intermediate blueprint reading to inspect conformance.
• Advanced math computation for gauges and blueprints.
• Ability to interpret GD&T and geometric concepts.

Responsibilities

• Operates and performs advanced set ups on turning centers and secondary operations.
• Operates and sets up various secondary operation machines and related equipment.
• Inspects articles to verify conformance to specifications (GD&T).
• Performs SPC and maintains process targets with appropriate software/hardware.
• Monitors operations and seeks additional work when available.
• Performs routine maintenance to ensure proper operation.
• Completes departmental paperwork and electronic data entry as required.
• Trains coworkers and may act as temporary lead.

Base Rate $26.00-$35.00 + $3.00 Shift Differential

What You’ll Be Doing as a CNC Production Machinist 2:

Performs advanced machine operation and adjustments to support the manufacture and finishing of parts. Has beginning to intermediate level setup skills for departmental equipment.

• Operates and performs advanced set ups on primarily turning center machines and some secondary operations.
• Operates and performs sets up on a variety of customized secondary operation machines, drill presses, thread tapers, dimple presses, washing tanks, broaching presses and honing centers.
• Inspects articles to verify conformance to specifications applying basic understanding of GDT. Identifies damaged or inferior quality products.
• Performs SPC and maintains process to within target using appropriate computer software/hardware.
• Monitors machine operations and proactively seeks out additional work when available.
• Proactively recognizes the need for machine maintenance and cleaning. Independently performs maintenance activities to ensure proper operation.
• Completes departmental paperwork and electronic data where applicable.
• Trains coworkers on how to operate, adjust, and set up machines. May perform in a temporary lead role.

Skills and Experiences You’ll Need as a CNC Production Machinist 2:

• High School diploma or equivalent and 4+ years machining/manufacturing experience, or an equivalent combination of experience required.
• Intermediate Blueprint reading skills. Ability to read blueprints and measurement gauges to inspect for part conformity.
• Advanced math computation skills for reading and using measurement gauges and blueprints.
• Ability to understand and apply advanced geometric concepts (e.g., angles and degrees) in making basic adjustments or setting up basic tooling and holding fixtures in the laser machines.
• Ability to interpret GDT.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to multitask (i.e., operate one machine while setting up another).
• Ability to read and communicate information and technical data effectively.

Work Environment for a CNC Production Machinist 2:

Work takes place in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and chemicals. Ability to use PPE. Ability to stand or sit for long periods. Good manual dexterity, fine motor skills, visual acuity, and ability to use full range of motion. Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds with assistance.
