Job summary

KELTEC Industrial Filtration in West Chicago, IL seeks an experienced CNC Machinist to program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes for low-volume, high-precision parts. The role includes fixture fabrication and working with minimal supervision.

You will read blueprints, assemble sub-assemblies, perform preventive maintenance, and manage tooling and material inventory. Overtime and occasional weekend work are required to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a CNC machinist or equivalent.
• High School degree or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical knowledge required.
• Proficient with MS Office tools and general computer literacy.
• Able to read/supplement/correct drawings.
• Willing to learn and take on other duties.
• Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Reads blueprints for dimensions and tolerance.
• Assemble component sub-assemblies and fixtures per drawings/manuals.
• Perform preventive maintenance and risk mitigation on machine shop equipment.
• Rebuild equipment and fabricate/repair parts as needed.
• Responsible for machine shop tooling, raw material inventory, and shop cleanliness.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Job Description

As the company grows, the need for experienced, hands-on personnel increases. Currently, we seek an experienced CNC Machinist who is competent with CNC machining, can efficiently create low volume precision parts to print, is comfortable with machine / fixture fabrication and assembly, and can work in a professional manner with minimal direct supervision.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Safely program, set up, and operate CNC mills / lathes.
• Safely set up and operate manual mills/lathes, drill press, saws, and laser cutting systems.
• Reads blueprints for product specification such as dimensions and tolerance.
• Assemble component sub-assemblies and fixtures according to assembly drawings, manuals, sketches, and verbal instruction.
• Perform preventive maintenance and risk mitigation activities on machine shop equipment.
• Rebuild equipment and fabricate / repair parts as necessary to complete tasks.
• Responsible for machine shop tooling, raw material inventory, and general shop cleanliness.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Position Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a CNC machinist or equivalent work experience
• High School Degree or equivalent
• Strong mechanical knowledge required.
• Proficient with MS Office tools coupled with general computer literacy
• Proficient in standard (Imperial) and metric systems
• Able to read / supplement / correct drawings
• Willing to learn, develop new skills, and take on other duties / responsibilities as assigned.
• Willing to work overtime and weekends, at times, to meet customer requirements.

Preferred

• 5+ years of progressive experience as a CNC machinist or equivalent work experience
• Certificate in CNC precision programming/machining or equivalent education/experience.
• Familiar with PLCs, programming logic, and automated systems.
• Proficient with AutoDesk Inventor CAM, Fusion 360, or similar CAM software package.
• Exposure to fabrication tools including MIG & TIG Welding is a plus

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This position regularly requires an 8 hour work day. Moderate overtime including weekends may be required. This job usually operates in a production environment.
