Job summary

Elwood Staffing is seeking a CNC Machinist in Columbus, IN on a temporary, full-time basis for the third shift (10:55pm–05:55am) at a leading manufacturer of firefighting equipment. The role requires setting up and operating a Twin Turret Single Spindle Lathe, reading prints, and achieving quality through precise measurement.

This position offers $27.00 per hour, benefits including Medical/Vision/Dental/Rx, weekly pay, 401k, and potential referrals, with background check and drug screening as

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Trade school degree preferred.
• 2+ years’ CNC Machinist experience.
• Must lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Background check and pre-employment drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operate a Twin Turret Single Spindle Lathe machining center to complete daily work orders.
• Read and interpret component prints or drawings; perform calculations and resolve technical problems.
• Proficient use of measuring devices (micrometers and calipers).
• Understand G Codes (Okuma) and machine tooling.
• Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces.
• Produce quality parts using machining processes and maintain production rates.
• Perform first piece and hourly inspections to ensure quality.
• Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Understand preventative maintenance requirements and maintain housekeeping and 5S standards.

CNC Machinist Details:

• Temporary position
• $27.00 /hour
• Full Time work available
• Third Shift (Sunday through Thursday from 10:55pm to 05:55am)

• Set-up and operate a Twin Turret Single Spindle Lathe machining center to complete daily work orders.
• Ability to read and interpret component prints or drawings, make average to complicated arithmetic calculations, and resolve technical problems.
• Must be proficient in use of measuring devices (i.e. micrometers and calipers).
• Must understand G Codes (Okuma).
• Mounting, installing, aligning, and securing tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Utilize knowledge of machining processes to produce quality parts.
• Conduct first piece & hourly inspection to ensure quality standards.
• Successfully demonstrate trouble shooting and problem-solving ability.
• Understands the preventative maintenance requirements of Twin Turret Single Spindle Lathes and Implements maintenance based on defined schedules.
• Understands the 5S and Workplace Organization of Lathe work-centers and demonstrates ability to maintain each work area within these guidelines.
• Must demonstrate ability to complete parts to the established production rates.

CNC Machinist Qualifications:

• A high school diploma or GED
• A trade school degree (preferred)
• 2+ years’ experience as a CNC Machinist
• Job requires repetitively lifting average weight objects with repetitive bending and stooping.
• Frequently lifts heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.)
• Job may require physical exertion such as long periods of standing.
• Job may require above average agility and dexterity.
