LaGasse Machine & Fabrication, a small-town CNC shop in New York, is seeking a FULL-TIME Machinist. You will work hands-on with fellow employees and customers, using Fusion 360 and a variety of mills and lathes to produce precision parts.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and 2–3 years of experience or a 2-year Machine Tool Technology certificate. You must be able to visualize parts from sketches, work independently, and commit to safe, quality work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-year Machine Tool Technology certificate or 2–3 years of related experience.
• Experience with CNC mill/lathe setup, teardown, and programming is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Work directly with fellow employees and customers to produce parts.
• Contribute to team efforts and continuous improvement.
• Demonstrate capabilities during a 6-month probation period.
• Be available to work 6:00–4:30 pm, Monday–Friday (40 hrs/week).
• Wages commensurate with experience.

An applicant considering employment with LaGasse Machine & Fabrication, Inc. should have a preference for working in a small town, small shop, hands-on work environment. At LaGasse, we use Fusion 360 and are a low volume / high variation shop.

The position available is for a FULL-TIME, MACHINIST.

The Machinist is expected to have good skills in dealing with people as he / she will need to work directly with fellow employees and with customers. The Machinistis expected to contribute to the LaGasse Machine & Fabrication team and its continuing efforts toward improvement.

In addition to having a High School diploma, the Machinistshould have the following minimum training and/or comparable work experience:

• 1. Certificate of completion of a 2 year BOCES or equivalent training program in the field of Machine Tool Technology.
• 2. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience.

Knowledge, experience and skill in the area(s) of Programing / Set up / Tear down of CNC Mill and Lathe

• Fusion 360

• Trump (Bridgeport style) manual Mill
• Manual Lathes

The Machinistshould have and strive to develop:

• 1. The ability to visualize a desired finished product based on a minimal verbal description and / or minimal sketch.
• 2. The ability to work independently as well as with others
• 3. The ability to understand and adjust work quality levels to meet individual customer’s varying requirements.
• 4. Patience and the skills to work safely.
• 5. Knowledge of tool bit sharpening, speeds and feeds and classes of fits.
• 6.Knowledge of various types of set‑ups on a lathe including 4-jaw, 3-jaw, steady‑rest and thread cutting.
• 7. Knowledge of various types of set‑ups on a vertical mill including vise alignment, rotary table and part holding for odd‑shaped parts.
• 8. A basic knowledge of mechanical drawing.
• 9. The desire to keep equipment in good repair.
• 10. The desire to continually learn more about the trade including new processes, techniques and equipment and to strive for self‑improvement.
• 11. A willingness to work overtime when necessary to help the Team make delivery deadlines.
• 12. A willingness to share one’s experience and knowledge so as to help others grow.

The Machinistis expected to demonstrate his/her capabilities during a probationary period of 6 months duration.

The Machinistshould be available to work between 6-4:30pm weekdays (40hrs/week).

The Machinistis expected to have a valid driver’s license. Wages commensurate with experience.
