Job summary

A manufacturing service provider in Shawnee is seeking experienced machinists to setup, program, and operate various machine tools like lathes and CNC equipment. Ideal candidates will have strong mechanical skills, be comfortable lifting weights, and possess effective communication abilities. This role involves working with both metallic and nonmetallic materials according to engineering drawings.

Qualifications

• Three years experience preferred but will consider other applicants.
• Effective verbal, written, and mathematical skills are required.
• Must be able to walk and stand throughout an eight-hour day.
• Must be able to consistently lift 80 lbs. from a floor or table position to chest high.

Job description

Hours: 7:00a - 4:45p (Monday - Thursday) and 7:00a - 11:00a (Friday)

Machinists are required to set up, program as may be necessary, and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, boring machines, CNC equipment, and grinders, to machine metallic and nonmetallic work pieces by performing the necessary steps according to drawings provided by the companys engineering department.

Machinists are required to have sufficient experience or familiarity with the programs and equipment used and provided use for them to allow for easy training.

Machinists are also required to use chop saws, band saws, grinders, sanders, and buffers.

Qualifications and Skills

• Three years experience preferred but will consider other applicants.
• Knowledge in the following areas: assembly; parts; machining; machining symbols; ability to read and understand drawings; CNC operation; quality control; and safety.
• Effective verbal, written, and mathematical skills are required.
• Must be able to walk and stand throughout an eight hour day.
• Must be able to consistently lift 80 lbs. from a floor or table position to chest high using a proper lifting technique.
• Strong math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide, algebra. Must be able to read, evaluate and respond to product specifications and drawings, and perform normal math calculations easily.
• Must be familiar and comfortable with various machinery. Must have strong general mechanical skills.
