Job summary

Geoprobe Systems® seeks a dedicated CNC Machinist to join the Machine Shop. You will program, setup, and operate CNC mills and lathes while maintaining strict quality and safety standards and recording production data.

The ideal candidate is team-oriented, mechanically skilled, proficient with blueprints and math, and capable of following complex tolerances. Training is provided on the floor to ensure hands-on mastery and safe operations.

Qualifications

  • High School education or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship is a plus.
  • Machining and CNC programming experience required; ability to read/write G-code; CAM experience is a plus.
  • Experience using precision measurement tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals.
  • Strong math skills and analytical abilities.
  • Physical stamina to lift heavy items; hands-on with strong mechanical abilities.
  • Good communication and teamwork; adaptability and problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes machining by studying work orders, blueprints, and tolerances.
  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions and calculating requirements.
  • Sets-up mills and lathes and loads material feeders.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions and first-run parts.
  • Maintains specifications and adheres to QA procedures.
  • Maintains safe operations and preventive maintenance.
  • Documents actions and logs production and quality data.
  • Accepts new requests and adapts to changing needs.

Job description

The Geoprobe® CNC Machinist works with a team to produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine while placing a high priority on maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies. Successful candidates will be team players, mechanical with strong hands‑on skills, committed to high-quality work, comfortable working with blueprints, strong in math, and team oriented.

Job Responsibilities
  • Plans and executes machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, machining parameters and tolerances
  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry
  • Sets-up mills and lathes
  • Loads material feeders by lifting stock into position
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards
  • Maintains specifications, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
  • Maintains safe operations. adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Maintains equipment, completing preventive maintenance requirements
  • Documents actions, completing production and quality logs
  • Accepts ownership for accomplishing new and different requests
Training
  • On the floor training
Requirements
  • High School education or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset
  • Machining & CNC programming experience required; ability to read and write Gcode, CAM experience will be an asset
  • Experience using precision measurement tools
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
