Job summary

Orano USA in Kernersville, NC is seeking an Experienced CNC Machinist to support machining in its nuclear fabrication facility. You will setup and operate CNC equipment to produce quality parts and contribute to process improvements.

The role requires knowledge of CNC programming (SMARTCAM) and conventional machining, with a strong emphasis on safety, documentation, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2–4 years of related experience.
• Broad knowledge of conventional and CNC machine tools, tooling selections, and CNC programming.
• Ability to consistently produce quality machined components, tools and fixtures.
• Good communication skills to convey detailed technical data.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machining equipment per established methods/programs to produce quality parts.
• Assist in developing conventional & CNC machining procedures, sequences, tools & fixtures.
• Produce moderately to highly complex machined components to precision tolerances.
• Inspect work and assist training of lower classification machinists as directed by supervisor.
• Maintain records, logs, and documentation and ensure safety compliance.

Description

Orano is seeking an Experienced CNC Machinist to support machining performed in its nuclear fabrication facility in Kernersville, NC. This position offers excellent pay and a rich benefits plan with no waiting period.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform setup and operate CNC machining equipment per established methods/programs to consistently produce quality parts at productive rates.


• May assist in developing conventional & CNC machining procedures & sequences, tools & fixtures.


• Produce moderately complex to highly complex conventional machined components/tooling to precision tolerances.


• Inspect work of other machinists and trains and assists lower classification machinists as directed by supervisor.


• Comply with all plant work rules, regulations and specific instructions, and maintain required records, logs & documentation.


• Identify & elevate operations problems to the area supervisor with objective options for resolution.


• May assist engineering in developing methods, processes, and identifying tooling or equipment needed.


• Exercise flexibility in work consistent with this work experience classification.


• May develop cost estimates for machined and fabricated parts.


• May develop conversational programming for CNC equipment and use of SMARTCAM or similar software.


• Provide input to department supervisor for scheduling and resource allocation.


• Assist with training and operation of key equipment.


• Play an active role in creating a safe and healthy workplace and comply with all applicable safety and health rules.

Requirements

• High school diploma or its equivalent with at least 2-4 years of experience in the field or a related area.


• Broad knowledge of conventional and CNC machine tool operations as required including tool/fixture selections/application and broad knowledge of CNC programming.


• Demonstrated ability to efficiently and consistently produce quality machined components, tools and fixtures.


• Good communication skills, including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.


• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.


• Two-year machine technology certificate preferred.
