Job summary

Keel is seeking a CNC Machinist to operate and adjust CNC machines, reading blueprints and ensuring parts meet specifications. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and efficient production in a skilled manufacturing team.

You will load parts, inspect with precision tools, and support setup under supervision, with potential for advancement and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical CNC training desirable.
• Basic knowledge of drilling, milling, turning processes.

Responsibilities

• Operate and adjust CNC machines (mills, lathes, or machining centers) to perform assigned tasks.
• Follow written and verbal instructions, blueprints, and SOPs.
• Load/unload parts, verify dimensions with precision tools, perform basic inspections.
• Monitor operations for malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions; notify supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area; follow safety and quality procedures.
• Assist in basic machine setup and tool changes under supervision.
• Record production data and complete documentation accurately.
• Support continuous improvement and 5S initiatives.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Your Mission:

The CNC Machinist is responsible for operating and adjusting CNC machine tools to perform standard and repetitive machining operations. This role works to ensure parts are machined accurately to specifications while maintaining safety, quality, and production standards.

Explore the Depth of the Role:

• Operate and adjust CNC machines (mills, lathes, or machining centers) to perform assigned machining tasks.
• Follow written and verbal instructions, blueprints, and standard operating procedures.
• Load and unload parts, verify dimensions using precision measuring tools, and perform basic part inspections.
• Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and notify supervisor as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring adherence to all safety and quality procedures.

Requirements:

Mission Readiness:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in a machining or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Technical training in CNC machining or related field desirable.
• Basic knowledge of machining processes including drilling, boring, milling, and turning.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and part specifications.

• Understanding of cutting tools, materials, and feeds/speeds concepts.
• Basic computer and CNC control interface skills.
• Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
• CNC operation or machining certificate preferred but not required.
• Forklift certification a plus.

• Minimal

Physical Requirements:

• May be required to stand, walk, sit, reach/pull/push with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel regularly.
• May lift or carry 50lbs. Weights exceeding 50lbs will require mechanical means to maneuver.
