Job description

Idex offers a dynamic environment for engineers, marketers, sales professionals, and skilled technicians. This opportunity is located at MyTana in Harris, MN, a small‑town machine shop that services plumbing and inspection markets across the U.S.

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled, self‑starter, and dependable Precision Machinist to join our CNC Turning Team. The role is essential for producing parts that meet tight fit‑form‑function tolerance for the plumbing and utilities inspection industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shift: 1st Shift (6:00AM – 4:30PM, Monday‑Thursday)
  • Precision Machining: Independently program, set up, and operate a range of CNC turning equipment to produce intricate aluminum, steel, stainless steel, brass, and plastic parts with tight tolerances.
  • Operation: Expertly run and maintain milling and turning centers to produce a wide variety of in‑tolerance parts.
  • Prototyping: Execute quick‑turn jobs on both CNC and conventional equipment to support R&D, product development, and customer needs.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary CNC turning subject‑matter expert, communicating with engineering, quality, and management to ensure design intent and manufacturability.
  • Scalability Recommendations: Analyze prototype processes and recommend improvements or adjustments to machining strategies for scalable, cost‑effective production.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous in‑process and final inspections using precision measurement tools to verify compliance with quality standards.
  • Adaptability & Time Management: Demonstrate exceptional time‑management and multitasking skills to handle multiple projects and pivot quickly to urgent priorities.
  • Safety & Teamwork: Champion a strong safety mentality and contribute positively to a collaborative, high‑performance team.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum five years of hands‑on, close‑tolerance machining experience.
  • Technical Mastery: Proven operating and programming proficiency (CAM) on turning centers and Bridgeport‑style milling machines.
  • Industry Knowledge: Practical experience manufacturing components for a typical production‑style machine shop.
  • Soft Skills & Collaboration: Demonstrated success in interaction and partnership with engineering, quality, and management teams to drive project completion.
  • Work Ethic: Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced, rapid‑turnaround environment while maintaining composure and quality under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating and setting up FANUC Series controller machines and bar‑feed setups.
  • Advanced CNC programming training.
  • Familiarity with inspection and quality‑management equipment.
Compensation

Starting compensation is $24.00 per hour. The position may be eligible for a performance‑based bonus plan.
