Job summary

US Cargo Systems in North Carolina is seeking a CNC Machinist to set up, inspect, and run Haas, Mazak, Fanuc or Hurco controlled machines to manufacture airplane cargo systems parts.

You will read blueprints with GD&T, select tools, adjust feeds and speeds, perform quality checks, and maintain equipment safely in a warehouse setting.

Qualifications

  • Two-year degree or technical school with related CNC experience.
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC equipment with named controls.
  • Ability to read blueprints and GD&T symbols.
  • Familiarity with precision measurement tools.

Responsibilities

  • Machine Operation: Set up and operate CNC tools (lathes, mills, grinders).
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read drawings and GD&T; know datums.
  • Quality Control: Inspect parts to tolerances and standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on machines.
  • Tool Selection: Choose cutting tools, speeds, feeds.
  • Safety: Maintain safe, clean workspace and report issues.
  • Problem-Solving: Collaborate to resolve production issues.
  • All other duties as assigned.

The Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist will be responsible for performing all the necessary set-up, inspection, tool changes and production required to manufacture airplane cargo systems parts.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Machine Operation: Set up and operate CNC machine tools, including lathes, mills, and surface grinders.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Knowledge of GD&T symbols, Datums, and geometric tolerancing.
  • Quality Control: Perform inspections and measurements to ensure that finished parts meet required tolerances and quality standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on machine tools to ensure they operate efficiently and safely.
  • Material Selection: Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for different jobs.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, maintain a clean and orderly workspace, and report any faulty equipment or unusual conditions.
  • Problem-Solving: Collaborate with engineers and other team members to resolve production issues and improve machining processes.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education And/or Experience
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; & four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Horizontal Machining Centers and Vertical Machines preferred.
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC equipment utilizing Haas, Mazak, Fanuc, Hurco, or similar controls.
  • Experience with CNC milling and turning operations, a plus.
  • Knowledge of precision management equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, gauge pins, gauge blocks, etc.).
  • Understanding of blueprint interpretation, tooling, fixturing, and machining processes.
ITAR/EAR Requirements

This position requires access to export control information. To conform to US Export Control regulations, the applicant should be eligible for any required authorization from the US Government.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

The position requires that the employee regularly sit and use their hands to handle or feel. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
