Job summary

GMI Corporation is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to program, set up, operate and maintain Swiss lathes and multi-task lathes to produce high-precision parts to specification.

You will write and edit CNC programs using CAM software, perform setups, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to continuous improvement while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years experience with set-ups and Swiss lathe programming.
• Ability to read part prints, CAD drawings, GD&T.
• Experience with regulated quality and safety standards.
• US Person per ITAR and eligible to work for 07/FFL manufacturer.

Responsibilities

• Write and edit CNC programs using CAM software.

JOB SUMMARY

A CNC Machinist is responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and maintaining Swiss lathes and multi-task lathes to produce high-precision parts to specification.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Write and edit CNC Programs using CAM software.
• Set up CNC lathe machines: select and install tools and work holding, load raw material, and load or adjust programs and machine offsets.
• Troubleshoot machining issues such as tool wear, program errors, setup problems, and minor equipment malfunctions, escalating to maintenance when needed.
• Coordinate or perform basic machine maintenance and ensure preventive maintenance is completed to minimize downtime.
• Follow safety procedures around cutting tools, coolants, and heavy materials.
• Drive continuous improvement and process reliability.
• Communicate status, issues, and production metrics to higher-level management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• 5-10 years experience with set-ups, program writing in a Swiss lathe environment.
• PC skills (e.g., ERP, MS Office).
• CAM Software such as Esprit, Autodesk Fusion, Mastercam, CAMWorks
• 5D Modeling.
• Associate’s in CNC Machinist, Precision Machining Technology, etc highly desirable.

REQUIREMENTS

• High-level CNC machining background (setup, operation, understanding of G‑code and tooling) for Citizen Swiss Style lathes and/or Miyano multi-task lathes.
• Strong proficiency with CNC programming using CAD/CAM software.
• Ability to read and interpret part prints, CAD drawings, GD & T, and process documentation.
• Experience working under regulated, quality and safety standards.
• US Person as defined by ITAR.
• Eligible to work for 07/FFL manufacturer (firearms).
