Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Technician – Aerospace CNC & Manual Machining
Location: Columbus, GA
Job Type: Temp to Hire

Shifts Available
  • 1st Shift (7am- 4 pm Monday-Friday)
  • 2nd Shift (2pm -11pm Weekdays)
  • 2nd Shift (7am-7pm Weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday))
Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineering Technician to join our advanced aerospace manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess strong machining knowledge in both CNC and manual environments, demonstrate expertise in machine setups and troubleshooting, and provide technical support across production operations and process improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general machining operations (milling and turning) using manual machine shop equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications utilizing working knowledge of tolerances and GD&T.
  • Assist in operating, setting up, and validating CNC machining centers (3-axis, 5-axis, Mill-Turn).
  • Utilize automatic tool setters (laser), Renishaw probing systems, manage work offsets, and machine tramming with dial/test indicators.
  • Set up and load fixtures, ensuring alignment, tramming, cleanliness, and proper square.
  • Operate and support machines using Okuma OSP, Heidenhain, Fanuc, and Siemens controllers.
  • Use CMM machines for inspection; read and interpret CMM reports for product verification.
  • Support hard metal machining—nickel and titanium alloys—meeting aerospace manufacturing standards.
  • Troubleshoot, support, and resolve CNC machine and process issues: alarms, tooling, programs, and dimensional concerns.
  • Partner with CNC Operators, Manufacturing Engineers, Maintenance, and external vendors to minimize downtime and resolve technical issues.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and help implement corrective actions for recurring problems.
  • Support setup, testing, and validation of CNC equipment, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoot CNC controls, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Monitor and optimize machine performance, uptime, cycle time, and equipment effectiveness; recommend and support process improvements.
  • Assist with tooling and fixture evaluations; suggest improvements for machining and product quality.
  • Support engineering trials, first-piece inspection, validation activities, and new production launches.
  • Review and interpret engineering documentation, specs, work instructions, and CNC program files.
  • Maintain accurate records and notes; communicate effectively with team via Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and email.
  • Train and mentor operators; foster collaboration across different departments; demonstrate excellent verbal skills.
Qualifications
  • Solid general machining skills (manual and CNC milling/turning)
  • Familiarity with CNC machining (3-axis, 5-axis, Mill-Turn)
  • Proficient in blueprint reading, GD&T interpretation
  • Hands-on experience with Okuma OSP, Heidenhain, Fanuc, Siemens CNC controllers
  • Experience with Renishaw probes, automatic tool setters, and CMM machines
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Capable of machining nickel and titanium alloys
  • Effective troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and email use
  • Leadership experience; able to train, mentor, and work across
