Job summary

Leggett & Platt in Carthage, MO is seeking CNC and manual machinists for immediate openings. You will set up machines, perform changeovers, and ensure quality while supporting multiple shifts.

Machine Products – CNC & Manual Machinist

We have immediate openings for qualified CNC and Manual Machinists. You can be part of our team that is actively involved in manufacturing parts that serve industries including Bedding & Furniture, Energy, Defense & Military, Aerospace, and Government. We’re looking for candidates with excellent work ethic, positive attitude, integrity, and a desire for future advancement. By scheduling three and four day per week shifts, we offer our Partners additional perks with three day weekends, more time with your family, fuel savings, and just more personal time.

Shifts Available
  • Day shifts = Four 10‑hour days (6:00am – 4:30pm Mon‑Thurs or Tues‑Fri)
  • Night shift = Four 10‑hour days (4:30pm – 3:00am Mon‑Thurs) with $1.00 shift premium
  • Weekend day shift = Three 12‑hour days (6:00am – 6:00pm Fri‑Sun) with $2.00 shift premium & 20‑minute paid lunch
Compensation & Benefits

We offer a very competitive starting wage depending on experience & talent of $20 - $32/hr with a 90‑day review, shift premiums, and a full benefits package, which includes medical, dental, life, 401K, paid vacation, holidays & PTO.

Qualifications
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Show previous experience in operating CNC equipment or related fields
  • Must have cooperative attitude, necessary to work effectively with others
  • Must have acceptable attendance
  • Satisfactorily pass CNC aptitude test
  • Must be able to move quickly from machine to machine and make necessary adjustments
  • Must be able to fill out all necessary paperwork accurately
  • Must be able to read and understand prints/drawings
  • Must be able to use and understand basic inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, etc)
  • Commitment to Quality Management Systems and Continuous Improvement
  • Commitment to L&P Safety and Environmental initiatives
Primary Duties
  • Do machine set‑ups and changeovers
  • Report to the supervisor any problems or parts that would create costly downtime
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non‑conformity related to the product, process and/or the system
  • Make sure area is kept clean and orderly
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and to the system
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels
  • Verify the implementation of solutions
  • Report to the supervisor any recommendations to correct machine problems such as performance that effect quality or machine life
  • Follow all written procedures, work instructions and quality plans
  • Control further processing, delivery or installation of non‑conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
  • Will discontinue production and notify supervisor as needed if process does not fall within specifications or is suspected to be nonconforming
  • Conform to all Quality/Safety requirements and procedures
  • Participate in the Continuous Improvement Process
  • Perform other duties as requested or as deemed appropriate
Requirements

30‑Day Requirements

  • Operate machinery efficiently.
  • Report any serious problems to the supervisor.
  • Accurately use and understand basic inspection tools.
  • Understand work instructions & quality plans for process.

60‑Day Requirements

  • Able to perform all 30‑day requirements.
  • Must be able to perform machine changeovers.
  • Inspect finished product for quality defects.
  • Know and understand all nonconformities and specifications.

90‑Day Requirements

  • Understand all processes involved with the position.
