Job Description

As a CNC Machine operator, you will read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.

Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.

Position the workpiece against stops or align layout marks with die or blade.

Push buttons or depress the pedal to activate the machine.

Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions.

Measure workpiece dimensions to determine the accuracy of machine operation.

Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpiece with a powered hand tool.

Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces. Perform minor program changes, properly save and check them.

Set up the machine, stack, mark, pack, and transport finished workpieces.

Rivet and/or spot weld workpieces.

Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • 1+ years of assembly experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Must possess the ability to use tools and equipment that are needed to perform the job.
  • Must have good listening and communication skills.
  • Able to work well with others to be a good team player.
Typical Day
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
  • Secures materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information containers.
  • Makes simple adjustments and performs routine preventive maintenance.
  • Assembles crates or boxes to contain products such as machines or vehicles.
  • Cleans work area, spillage, and equipment as required.
Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee frequently must walk. The employee occasionally sits, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Salary and Benefits

The hourly rate for this role is in the range of $22.00 - $24.50 an hour.
