Wabtec in Jackson, TN is seeking a CNC Machine Operator to follow work instructions and engineering drawings to assemble a variety of products. You will ensure quality, meet production standards, and keep safety as the top priority.

Day-to-day you will set up, load, and operate equipment, inspect parts for defects, perform minor maintenance, and document results while collaborating with welders and technicians in a manufacturing environment.

Formación

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • 1+ years of welding experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend industrial blueprints.
  • Must possess the ability to use tools and equipment that are needed to perform the assembly operations in an industrial setting.
  • Must have good listening and communication skills.
  • Able to work well with others and to be a good team player.

Who will you be working with?

You will work with a broad range of talented individuals delivering quality products in a timely manner at our Young Touchstone business unit. You’ll partner with professionals across multiple departments and work alongside other Operators and Welders. As a member of the Heat Transfer & Energy Solutions team, you will be responsible for providing services and support to internal and external customers and suppliers to ensure materials, processes and products meet or exceed specifications. This position is based at our Jackson, TN location and reports directly to the area Supervisor.

Job Description

How will you make a difference?

As a CNC Machine Operator, you will follow specified work instructions and/or engineering parts drawings to assemble a wide variety of products. You will be responsible for the quality of your work, and meeting production standards. You will continually look for ways to improve our production processes and make Safety your #1 priority every day.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
  • Position workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.
  • Pushes buttons or depress pedal to activate machine.
  • Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpiece with a powered hand tools.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces.
  • Perform minor program changes , properly save and check them.
  • You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • 1+ years of welding experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend industrial blueprints.
  • Must possess the ability to use tools and equipment that are needed to perform the assembly operations in an industrial setting.
  • Must have good listening and communication skills.
  • Able to work well with others and to be a good team player.

  • Frequent standing, walking, handling, reaching outward, lifting 15lbs or less.
  • Occasionally sitting, squatting/kneeling, bending, lifting to 50lbs or more, exposure to cold/heat/humidity, loud noises, and dust or vapors within OSHA limits.
  • Vision abilities include close and distance vision, color distinction, and observe small handwriting, labels, and components.
  • Employees are always required to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the facility including steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and ear plugs.
  • Employees will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment including seasonal variation in temperatures
Additional Information

Wabtec will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the U.S. for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a drug screen (as applicable) and fitness for duty test (as applicable).

The hourly pay range for this role is $24.00 to $28.00.

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
