Job summary

Klein Tools is seeking a CNC Machine Operator I to train as an apprentice and learn to produce machined parts by operating CNC lathes and milling machines.

You will load materials, inspect parts with precision tools, and ensure adherence to drawings and quality standards. The role emphasizes safety, 5S housekeeping, and teamwork in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand basic English.
• Proficiency in basic math and trigonometry.
• Ability to communicate and work as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate drill presses, manual milling machines, CNC milling machines, manual lathes and CNC lathes under close supervision.
• Load and unload raw materials and parts into the machine.
• Inspect and measure finished product using calipers, gauges, micrometers, and other machinist hand tools.
• Compare finished product to drawing specifications to determine if they adhere to company quality standards.
• Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and threadchasing operations and taking measurements.
• Notify the supervisor or area lead if more complex tool or machine adjustments are required.
• Optimize production by performing secondary work such as deburring or drilling while the machines are running.
• Keep work area in clean and orderly condition, complying with established 5S standards.
• Maintain a safe work environment to prevent on‑the‑job injuries by following and promoting company, OSHA andEPA rules and regulations, implementing machine safeguards, recognizing and reporting safety hazards and follow all safety procedures and standards.
• Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of work.

The CNC Machine Operator I is an is a trainee/apprentice level position that is responsiblefor producing machined parts by operating a computer numerical control ﴾CNC﴿ lathe ormilling machine, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, andmaintaining equipment and supplies.

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Experience in a machine shop environment is preferred.

Physical Demand Requirements

Required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands andarms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee mustoccasionally lift and/or move objects up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include closevision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
