Job summary

Reliance Gear Corporation in Elmhurst, IL seeks a CNC Lathe & Mill Machinist to set up, program, and run Mori Seiki and Doosan machines, reading blueprints and applying proper speeds and feeds. This role demands solid measuring skills and the ability to work from verbal and written instructions.

You will follow safety rules, inspect parts, and strive to meet productivity and quality goals on a production floor with MasterCam/G-code usage.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs all assigned machine shop operations.
• Follow all work, maintenance, and safety instructions and procedures.
• Inspect production material and finished products, report defects.
• Maintain a clean, orderly work area and equipment.
• Perform turning, drilling, tapping, deburring, countersinking, sawing and sanding to draw specs.
• Set up and program the machine; knowledge of G Code & MasterCam required.
• Position tools, set machine/fixtures according to layout and tooling list.
• Meet productivity and quality goals.
• Listen to machines to detect tool wear or vibration and adjust accordingly.

Job description

The candidate must be able to set-up, program, and run CNC lathes & mills (Mori Sieki, Doosan). Must be able to work from verbal and written instructions. Solid blueprint reading and measuring skill a must. Knowledge of materials for speeds and feed required. Reads blueprint or job order to determine dimensions and specifications, tools, inserts to use, and machine settings.

Accountable to: Operations Manager
Salary/Pay grade: Hourly

Responsibilities/daily tasks:

• Performs all assigned machine shop operations.
• Follow all work, maintenance, and safety instructions and procedures.
• Maintain quality standards by visually and/or dimensionally inspecting production material and finished products by detecting and reporting defective materials, questionable conditions, machine problems or malfunctioning equipment to set-up person, group leader, shop supervisor or quality personnel.
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition.
• Regularly performsturning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, countersinking, sawing and sanding tasks to drawing specifications on a variety of parts.
• Do set-up and make program by the machine. Knowledge of G Code & MasterCam required.
• Use program and tools, position pre-set tools in magazine according to code numbers, set machine and fixtures according to layout and tooling list.
• Meet productivity and quality goals.
• Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems.

Qualifications:

• Required to have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Two years of experience working in a similar shop is a common requirement.
• Need to be able to lift 35 pounds and work on their feet, while using tools to perform repetitive actions, for a 10-hour shift.
• Due to the time-sensitive nature of manufacturing, overtime maybe required.
• In order to abide by certain OSHA and local environmental agency regulations, mandatory safety training, protective gear, and chemical handling procedures are required.
