Job summary

Precision Fuzing and Sensors is seeking a CNC Mill Machinist III for the 2nd shift in Middletown, CT. You will read blueprints, set up machines, edit programs and inspect parts to tight tolerances in a high-precision environment.

The role involves operating CNC and manual mills under limited supervision, maintaining safety and quality standards, and contributing to continuous improvement through Lean practices. Medical and 401k benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 4-8 years of related experience.
  • Experience reading blueprints and setting up machining operations.
  • OAP (Operator Acceptance Program) certification to inspect own work.

Responsibilities

  • Work under Group Leader or Supervisor with limited supervision, setting tolerances and finish specifications.
  • Apply 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles daily.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, directions, policies and standards to achieve required contours and finishes.
  • Calibrate and modify sequences to adjust speeds and cuts; set up programming for machining sequences.
  • Operate, edit and adjust CNC and manual machines; inspect own work with gages and instruments.

Job description

CNC Mill Machinist III (2nd Shift)

Precision Fuzing and Sensors is actively hiring for a General Machinist III in Middletown, CT. This role requires experience in blueprint reading, part set up, program editing and in process inspection. The ideal candidate will have a background in setting up and operating CNC milling machine tools. The General Machinist III will be working under the direction of the Group Leader or Supervisor with limited supervision, responsible for using a variety of machining equipment to perform machining operations at close tolerances.

Responsibilities:
  • Work under the direction of the Group Leader or Supervisor with little supervision, specify exact tolerances and finish specifications to perform diversified machining operations.
  • Employ 5S and Lean Manufacturing skills in everyday work practices.
  • Use blueprint, schematics, written and verbal directions, shop policies and quality standards to obtain required contours, dimensions and finish specifications.
  • Calibrate and modify operational sequences to adjust speed of machining and frequency of cuts.
  • Set up computer programming to perform machining sequences.
  • Operate, edit and adjust a variety of CNC and manual machines.
  • Edit and check programming of machines.
  • Determine operational or tooling sequence.
  • Select feeds, speeds and tooling.
  • Hold close and exacting tolerances.
  • Requires the use of judgment to plan, perform activities, and make decisions as to the sequence of setups, operations and processes within standardized limitations.
  • Make decisions on the fixtures to be used, cutting tools, inspection equipment needed and how to set up machines to perform operations.
  • Perform general shop work such as deburring, machine repair and maintenance duties.
  • Use safety standards as a guideline to perform machine maintenance and maintain a clean an orderly work area.
  • Inspect own work using functional gages and inspection equipment to maintain maximum quality.
  • Inspect production work as often as necessary to maintain maximum quality standards and to prevent scrap work and minimal rework.
  • Must be OAP (Operator Acceptance Program) certified to inspect own work using various hand tools and measuring instruments to maximize quality.
  • Assist in training new employees.
  • Report defective material and other unusual conditions or circumstance to supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 4-8 years of related experience.
  • Use of elementary geometry, algebra and trigonometric principles together with the use of drawings, specifications, charts and tables.
  • Moderate physical effort consisting of frequently {90%) lifting or moving average weight (over 25 lbs and up to 60 lbs) material.
Shift:
  • 2nd Shift Monday-Friday 2:45p-11:15p.
