  • Schedule availability is required Monday through Friday.
  • Every other weekend on-call coverage is required from 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM.
  • Occasional coverage outside of regularly scheduled hours may be required based on business needs, including coverage until 10:00 PM.

Applicants must be able to reliably work this weekday schedule, as it is essential to supporting caregiver training, onboarding, and daily operations.

Why Join Home Helpers?

  • Make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors and individuals with disabilities
  • Competitive pay for CNA's
  • Opportunities for career growth and advancement for CNA's
  • Referral program
  • Mileage reimbursement between clients
  • Direct deposit with same-day pay available after your first check
  • Recognition and appreciation for your hard work as a dedicated CNA
  • Supportive, team-oriented work environment
Responsibilities

Caregiver Training and Development

  • Schedule and coordinate caregiver training, including new-hire orientation, skills check-offs, and ongoing continuing education.
  • Deliver and assist with training in the office and in clients’ homes, with hands‑on instruction in safe transfers (including mechanical lift use), mobility assistance, personal care, fall prevention, and infection control.
  • Observe caregivers in the field, provide constructive feedback, and reinforce Home Helpers’ standards of care.
  • Mentor newer caregivers through their first weeks, serving as a consistent resource for questions, concerns, and skill development.
  • Maintain training records and notify the Office Supervisor of expiring certifications, skill gaps, or performance concerns.

Client Intake and Care Planning

  • Conduct in‑home client intake assessments covering care needs, mobility and fall risk (including whether a mechanical lift or other equipment is needed), home safety, daily routines, and client and family preferences.
  • Complete intake documentation accurately and on time, and collaborate with the Office Supervisor to develop and update client care plans.
  • Introduce new caregivers to clients and families, communicating care expectations, routines, and client‑specific needs so each placement starts well.
  • Follow up after introductions to confirm a good fit, address concerns early, and report outcomes to the office.
  • Recognize changes in a client’s condition and elevate them promptly to the Office Supervisor.

Direct Care, Shift Coverage, and On‑Call Responsibility

  • Provide direct care when needed, to the same standard expected of every caregiver.
  • Cover shifts for call‑offs, scheduling gaps, and urgent client needs, working closely with the scheduling team to maintain continuity of care.
  • Work an assigned shift (AM 7-3 or PM 2-10/12-8) and remain flexible as client needs change.
  • Serve on call every other weekend (7 AM-10 PM) and as assigned, acting as first point of contact for caregiver and client issues and escalating to the Office Supervisor when appropriate.
  • Maintain active, good‑standing Utah CNA certification, a valid driver’s license, current vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation for in‑home work.

Office Operations, Compliance, and Team Leadership

  • Support daily office operations, including paperwork, caregiver and client file maintenance, phone support, and special projects as assigned.
  • Follow state and agency documentation standards, and report incidents and safety concerns promptly and accurately.
  • Communicate professionally and responsively with clients, families, caregivers, and office staff.
  • Partner with the Office Supervisor and scheduler to keep the office staffed and running smoothly, especially during busy or understaffed periods.
  • Model reliability, compassion, and accountability, and help build a positive team culture.
What You Need to Be Successful
  • Strong work ethic and dependability
  • Willingness to learn and accept feedback
  • Compassion and respect for people from all backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
  • Clear, professional communication with clients, families, and coworkers
Requirements
  • Active Utah CNA certification in good standing on the Utah Nursing Assistant Registry (certification is valid for two years, so it must be renewed on time)
  • Minimum of 2 years of caregiving experience preferred
  • Demonstrated competency in safe patient handling, including mechanical lift transfers, or willingness to complete a check‑off before working independently
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable vehicle
  • Reliable attendance record and the ability to work the schedule above
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus (a priority for some locations)

  • Ability to safely operate mechanical lifts (such as Hoyer lifts) and other transfer equipment, and to lift and move up to 50 lbs with or without assistance when assisting clients with transfers, repositioning, mobility, and balance support.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, and pulling during shifts.
  • Ability to drive between client homes and the office throughout the day.
  • Work is performed in clients’ homes and the office. Homes vary in temperature, layout, and cleanliness, and may include pets, stairs, or tobacco smoke.
  • Exposure to illness and bodily fluids. Standard precautions and protective equipment are required.
  • Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities.
Conditions of Employment
  • Background clearance: Utah requires fingerprint-based clearance through the Direct Access Clearance System (DACS) for staff with direct access to vulnerable adults, and no direct access to clients is permitted until clearance is approved. Clearance is monitored on an ongoing basis.
