Job summary

Certified Nursing Assistant
Position Purpose

Provides certified nursing assistant services to assigned residents in accordance with care plans, facility policies and procedures, and at the direction of supervisors.

Required Qualifications
  • Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the state (preferred, not required).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Current Food Handler Permit.
  • No disciplinary action in effect against certification.
  • At least one year of experience as a certified nursing assistant in long‑term care (preferred, not required).
Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living according to care plans and established policies.
  • Assist residents with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting to and from beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, and lifts.
  • Coordinate dining room services at assigned mealtimes, including set‑up, clean‑up, meal tray delivery, feeding assistance, and documentation of meal intake.
  • Deliver nutritional supplements to residents, ensuring intake and documenting accordingly.
  • Assist with weighing residents, record weights, and report significant changes to nurse and supervisor.
  • Track the condition of residents’ skin, reporting pressure areas, skin breakdown, or skin tears.
  • Assist nursing staff in carrying out toileting program activities.
  • Complete flow sheets daily to indicate task completion and document resident progress.
  • Communicate factors that interfere with job performance and report changes in resident condition to nurse and supervisor.
Additional Assigned Tasks
  • Treat all residents with dignity and respect, promoting and protecting their rights.
  • Adhere to facility policies, safety and hygiene measures, confidentiality of protected health information, and state/federal regulations.
  • Report non‑compliance, retaliation, discrimination, abuse, neglect, or other concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Report occupational exposures, work‑related injuries, illnesses, and exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Participate in life safety and emergency drills, and fulfill responsibilities during emergency activation.
  • Complete all assigned training and skills competency requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Attend care‑plan meetings and participate in QAPI or facility assessment activities as needed.
  • Accept staffing assignments as required, performing CNA duties in accordance with policies.
  • Use proper lifting and body mechanics while delivering care.

  • Manage hostile or emotional residents, families, or staff professionally.
  • Strong listening skills and conflict resolution ability.
  • Basic computer skills, including electronic medical record navigation.
  • Positive interpersonal relationships across cultures.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers for resident care.
  • Lift, move, push, or pull minimum of 35pounds.
  • Work beyond assigned hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
