Job summary

St. Rose Hospital in Hayward, CA is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant for per-diem AM shift. You will assist with activities of daily living and provide basic nursing care under supervision of the RN in charge of the team.

Responsibilities include pre/post-operative care, patient positioning, ambulation, feeding, admissions, discharges, and transfers. You will report changes to the Charge Nurse, assist with patient teaching, monitor vital signs, and ensure safety and infection control

Qualifications

• Certified as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in California.
• BLS upon hire and current.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• No Referrals or Candidates Accepted from Recruiters or Agencies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and basic nursing care under the RN supervision.
• Perform pre/post-operative care, patient positioning, ambulation, and feeding.
• Report unusual incidents and significant changes to the Charge Nurse.
• Assist with patient teaching within the licensed nurse's scope.
• Accurately determine vital signs and chart data.
• Use hospital equipment and PPE appropriately.
• Use two patient identifiers for any procedure.
• Ensure clinical alarms are not silenced without RN knowledge.
• Maintain a safe environment and follow safety practices.
• Explain treatments to patients and involve them in care decisions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Per-diem AM SHIFT APPROXIMATE PAY RANGE: $26.00 - $30.17

Job description/Responsibilities:

Job Summary: Assists with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to patients, and assists in the maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.

• Assists with providing comprehensive nursing care including the following: pre and post-operative preparation, positioning of patients, ambulation of patients, dietary needs, including feeding of patients, AM and PM care, Admission, discharge and transfer of patients, care of patient belongings, and other patient care duties.
• Reports all unusual incidents to the appropriate person. Reports significant changes in patient's condition to Charge Nurse.
• Assists with patient teaching within the scope of knowledge as directed by the licensed nurse.
• Demonstrates the ability to accurately determine a patient's vital signs. Charts appropriate data within the scope of practice.
• Utilizes hospital equipment and supplies appropriately.
• Consistently uses two patient identifiers when performing any procedure on a patient.
• Consistently ensures that all clinical alarms are not turned off or silenced without the RN's knowledge.
• Is in compliance with the information contained within the Infection Control Manual (i.e. OSHA bloodborne pathogen standards, CDC Guidelines) and demonstrates appropriate use of personal protective equipment (i.e. gloves, masks, goggles) and handwashing techniques.
• Avoids and prevents injury to self and patients by applying the principles of body mechanics. Maintains a safe environment, functioning with an awareness and application of safety issues identified within the unit/facility.
• Explains all treatment and procedures thoroughly to patient before they are performed. Involves patient in care and allows the patient to have choice and control over situations and environment, as appropriate to condition and situation.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
