Job summary

Astrana Health seeks a CNA to support nursing staff on-site in Tustin, CA. You will record vital signs, assist with ADLs, and maintain a safe, clean patient care area in line with HIPAA and infection control procedures.

You will also help with stocking supplies and patient transport, and coordinate with licensed nurses to deliver compassionate, respectful care. California CNA certification, BLS, and strong English communication are required; reliability, teamwork, and professionalism are

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CNA certification valid in California.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge.
• Must read, write, and communicate in English.
• Strong customer service and patient-care skills.
• Reliable, professional, and able to maintain HIPAA confidentiality.
• Physical ability to perform CNA tasks (lifting, transfers, ADLs).

Responsibilities

• Accurately measures and records patient weights and vital signs. Recognizes and reports changes in the patient's condition, takes appropriate action and accurately documents all activities as required.
• Assists patient with hygiene, elimination, routine skin care, comfort measures and other Activities of Daily Living (ADL), in consideration of patient age, gender, culture and stated preferences, maintaining patient privacy and respect at all times.
• Assists with patient care activities as directed by licensed nurse, including specimen collection/transport, turning & positioning, and patient transportation.
• Actively engages in caring behaviors, taking conscious ownership for work and takes a proactive, deliberate, and thoughtful actions regarding work activities.

Description

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) aids professional and technical nursing personnel primarily by accomplishing a variety of duties and procedures which are directly related to patient care. Primary duties include taking and recording vital signs, assisting patients with hygiene and elimination, ensuring the safety of the patient, and maintaining a clean and safe unit environment. Assists with stocking unit supplies, operating hospital equipment as directed, performing routine clerical tasks, and assisting with other related duties as assigned.

What You'll Do

• Assists patient with hygiene, elimination, routine skin care, comfort measures and other Activities of Daily Living (ADL), in consideration of patient age, gender, culture and stated preferences, maintaining patient privacy and respect at all times. Assumes responsibility for maintaining a clean & safe environment. Ensures Infection Control procedures and HIPAA compliance.
• Assists with patient care activities as directed by licensed nurse, including specimen collection/transport, turning & positioning, and patient transportation.
• Actively engages in caring behaviors, taking conscious ownership for work and takes a proactive, deliberate, and thoughtful actions regarding work activities. Demonstrates appropriate use of independent judgement and decision making.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent)
• Current and active CNA certification in California
• AHA Basic Life Support
• Understanding of basic medical terminology
• Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Strong interpersonal, customer service, and patient-care skills; ability to work as part of a team and follow nursing supervision.
• Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and ability to maintain HIPAA confidentiality
• Must be physically able to perform the tasks of CNA patient care: lifting/transferring patients, assisting with ADLs, standing/walking for shifts.
