Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Sr. Nursing Aide (NURSE AID SR PD) for the EC Telemetry unit on the East Campus Medical Center site. This per diem, 20% appointment supports patient care during nights with 12-hour shifts.

Under RN supervision you will assist with activities of daily living, perform basic tasks, and participate in performance improvement activities. Prior CNA experience in acute care is preferred. BART or BLS certification is required at hire with improvement within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Active California CNA license required.
• Bart or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months.

Description

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the CNA supports the continuum of care by providing basic patient care and assistance with activities of daily living. Performs uncomplicated technical procedures. Participates in performance improvement activities, such as chart audits. Utilizes a variety of technical equipment and supplies. Provides basic patient care support: patient transport, specimen and blood and blood products transport, and inventory management. Cross trains to the role of Hospital Unit Secretary.

This position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Participates in collaborative team environment, including: training and evaluation of peers; scheduling of work; and assisting the administrative functions of the unit.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active California CNA license.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• One (1) or more years of CNA experience in an acute care setting.
• Demonstrated ability to observe deviations from normal.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous acute care experience.
• Experience with Epic, UCSD Paging & Scheduling Systems.
• Knowledge of medical terminology or certificate of medical terminology training.
• Bilingual: Spanish/English.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $69,363 - $69,363 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $33.22 - $33.22
