Overview

Join to apply for the CNA, Scranton Rehab Hospital (PT Nights) role at Allied Services.

Under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager, Supervisor or delegate in charge of the team/unit, the Nurse Aide/Certified Nurse Aide assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients, and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Completion of Nursing Assistant course preferred.

Work Experience
  • Experience As a Nursing Assistant Preferred.
Responsibilities
  • 20% Provides patient care related to activities of daily living, which may include showers, oral hygiene, combing hair, nail care, dressing patient, straightening room and labeling patient’s personal care items, as needed. (E)
  • 10% Provides for exceptional customer service, utilizing interpersonal communication skills. (E)
  • 10% Assists patients with bowel and bladder needs, such as assisting patient to the bathroom, assisting the patient in the use of bedpan, urinal or commode. Empties urinary drainage and colostomy bags. Monitors and documents intake and output. (E)
  • 9% Obtains and documents vital signs including temperature, pulse, respirations and blood pressure. Notifies the nurse of any changes or findings beyond normal limits. (E)
  • 8% Provides assistance with ambulation and mobility such as positioning, transferring, lifting and turning patients. Whenever moving or lifting a patient the employee will follow the Safe Handling and Movement of Patients Program. (E)
  • 5% Prepares patients for meals and assists with feeding patients and with nutritional intake. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to follow dietary restrictions including thickened liquids. (E)
  • 5% Demonstrates an adherence to and knowledge of how to don and doff personal protective equipment (gown, gloves, surgical mask, N-95 mask, and eye protection). (E)
  • 5% Demonstrates an adherence to and knowledge of the basic principles of infection control to include hand hygiene. (E)
  • 5% Completes purposeful rounds at least hourly. Reports (and when appropriate, records) observations of patient behavior and uses adequate judgement to notify the nurse of any changes in clinical or functional status. (E)
  • 5% In conjunction with the nurse (RN/LPN) answers patient call lights promptly and whenever possible anticipates patient needs. (E)
  • 5% Attends in-service education programs independently and as assigned, to learn new techniques and procedures, and to maintain current skills. (NE)
  • 4% Assists in preparation of units, patient rooms and beds for receiving patient admissions, transfers, emergencies or discharges. (E)
  • 3% Assists the patient with donning and doffing orthotics and prosthetics. (E)
  • 2% Accompanies patient to outside agency appointments as assigned. (E)
  • 2% Provides for the proper utilization of patient care supplies (NE)
