Job summary

Pruitthealth Corporation in Durham, NC is seeking a Nursing Assistant with phlebotomy duties to provide routine daily nursing care and blood collection services to assigned patients in accordance with care plans.

Under supervision, you will perform phlebotomy, maintain infection control, document accurately, order and stock supplies, and coordinate with lab staff. The role requires CNA certification, phlebotomy training, and at least 1 year of geriatrics experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Graduate of an approved phlebotomy training program.
• Minimum of 1 year phlebotomy experience with geriatrics.
• Active, current, and unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the appropriate state.
• Must be a certified nurse assistant in accordance with state laws.

Responsibilities

• Provides routine daily nursing care and services to assigned patients per care plan.
• Performs daily phlebotomy activities under nurse supervision.
• Identifies patients accurately to ensure correct treatment.
• Performs blood collections from patients, including older age groups.
• Performs specimen processing, preparation and distribution of specimens.
• Maintains infection control practices and safety policies.
• Communicates with patients, providing reassurance and courtesy both in person and on the phone.
• Orders and maintains laboratory supplies.
• Keeps work areas clean and stocked.
• Maintains confidentiality of information.
• Coordinates with lab manager on lab-related issues.
• Works independently and in a team environment.
• Complies with OSHA, CLIA, and federal regulations.
• Maintains professional appearance and attitude.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
