Provides basic nursing skills instruction under the supervision of the primary instructor in a classroom or clinical setting, teaching the related skills to high school students enrolled in the Nursing Aide and Patient Care Technician (PCT) curriculum. This program prepares students to take their state board exam to be a certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).

Before being assigned to teach, all Nurse Aide Program instructional personnel shall demonstrate competence to teach adults or high school students through documented coursework or prior teaching experience that meets Virginia Board of Nursing requirements.
Thorough knowledge of managing a Nursing Aide classroom and curriculum to include basic nursing skills, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and infection control.
An ideal candidate would have the following:

Duties are typically performed in school settings, including the classroom and clinical setting. Frequent walking, standing, light lifting to 40 pounds, and other limited physical activities are required. Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required. Occasional lifting of equipment weighing up to 50 pounds may be required. Daily personal and close contact with students to provide classroom management and support for the learning environment is required. Occasional contact with medical professionals may be required.
The CNA/PCT Skills Instructor is evaluated by the school administration. Performance will be evaluated on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities.
