Job summary

clearskyhealth in Wisconsin seeks a Patient Care Technician to provide direct, non-invasive bedside care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, carefully incorporating our values into daily practice. Hours: 6:30 pm to 6:30 am.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED strongly preferred.
• 2 years of inpatient hospital experience preferred.
• Current BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, non-invasive bedside care under RN supervision.
• Record and report vital signs, intake/output, and other measurements.
• Assist in transferring and positioning patients using proper body mechanics.
• Maintain a clean, safe patient room and environment.
• Respond promptly to patient and family requests and calls.
• Adhere to infection prevention standards and hospital policies.

The Patient Care Technician , working under the direct supervision of Registered Nurse, is primarily responsible for providing direct, non-invasive bedside care to patients. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.

Hours: 6:30 pm - 6:30 am

Pay rate: $20.50 - $23.86; based on experience

Essential Functions:

• Prioritizes and delivers basic patient care, including bathing, toileting, feeding, grooming, etc.
• Performs and documents vital signs, measures and records intake and output, weights, specimen collections, etc.
• Transfers patients utilizing proper body mechanics and safe patient handling techniques.
• Reports any changes observed in condition or behavior of patient to appropriate nursing personnel.
• Assists in preparing unit, patient rooms, and patient beds for receiving patient admissions.
• Maintains bed and room in a clean, neat, safe, and comfortable manner.
• Removes supplies and equipment not in use; placing furnishings and equipment out of the path in order to provide a safe, neat, and organized area.
• Adheres to patient rounding expectations and standards.
• Assists in maintaining a physical, social, and psychological environment conducive to providing maximal patient comfort and optimizing healing.
• Promptly and appropriately responds to patient and family calls and requests.
• Appropriately designates applicable charges to individual patients using hospital's established system.
• May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
• Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Assesses environmental risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions.
• Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.
• Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
• Completes required trainings, as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.

Minimum Job Requirements

Minimum Education & Experience :

High school diploma or GED equivalent strongly preferred.

2 years of experience in inpatient hospital setting preferred.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation:

Current BLS required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of current clinical operations and procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate Infection Prevention and proper body mechanics.
• Demonstrates general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.

Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift:

• A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, carrying, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time.
• Both gross and precise motor functions.
• Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs.
• Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
• Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care.
• Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment.
• Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard.
• Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
