Job summary

Salem Health Hospitals & Clinics in Salem, Oregon is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant for the Oncology unit. This full-time role (36 hours per week) supports patients with activities of daily living, monitors vitals, and collaborates with nurses and a multidisciplinary team in a patient-centered care environment.

The CNA must be Oregon-certified, hold a current BLS, and commit to delivering compassionate care on 12-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Oregon certification to practice as a CNA.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Complete personal care for each patient as directed by plan of care.
• Accurately perform skills per policy and procedure.
• Complete only those skills for which competency has been demonstrated.
• Document pertinent patient information concisely using medical terminology.

Location: Salem Health Hospital, 890 Oak Street SE, Salem, Oregon 97301
Department: Oncology
Position Type: Full Time, 36 hours/weekly, Non-Exempt
Schedule: 7:00 am – 7:30 pm, 12-hour shifts, variable scheduled days

Your role with us

As a certified nursing assistant on this unit, you will play a vital role in supporting patients and families by providing high quality care, assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring and reporting patient needs and supporting nurses with tasks. You will work closely with an interdisciplinary team including social services, registered dietitians, palliative care and the Salem Health Cancer Center to deliver holistic, patient centered care.

What you'll do

• Completes personal care on each patient as directed by plan of care, including policies and procedures, without continual direct supervision.
• Accurately performs skills per policy and procedure.
• Completes only those skills duties for which competency has been demonstrated basic and advanced skills checklists.
• Documents pertinent patient information concisely and legibly using acceptable medical terminology and abbreviation on all assigned patients.
• Monitors and record vital signs, reporting changes to the nursing team.
• Supports nurses and healthcare staff in delivering personalized, high-quality care.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and healing environment for patients and families.
• Provides emotional support and compassionate care during vulnerable moments.
• Communicates clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and team members.

Required qualifications

• Certified in the State of Oregon to practice as a CNA.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
