Job summary

Sanford Health in the United States is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide patient-centered care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The NA assists with daily living activities, records vital signs, and helps prepare treatment areas in a hospital setting.

Work includes varied 12-hour shifts with a starting rate of $18.00–$24.00 per hour and a $2,000 sign-on bonus. A HS diploma or GED is preferred; CNA is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.
  • Obtains and maintains required department competencies and certifications.
  • ND Nurse Aide Registry compliance if ND and not CNA; up to four months from start.
  • WI Nurse Aide Registry compliance if WI.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with daily living activities (bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, meal prep and dining).
  • Administer delegated tasks and treatments.
  • Record vital statistics and basic health information.
  • Collect non-invasive specimens as needed.
  • Perform clerical tasks related to scheduling and documenting patient care.
  • Prepare treatment areas, clean equipment, and dispose of medical waste.
  • Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms.
  • Provide one-on-one patient care when necessary for safety.

Education

Summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the patient during the scheduled work period. The NA provides patient‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patient under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Job Description
  • Provide assistance with basic health care needs including daily living activities; bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, meal preparation and dining needs, emotional and spiritual needs.
  • Administer delegated tasks and treatments.
  • Record vital statistics and other basic health information.
  • Will collect non‑invasive biological specimens from patients as needed.
  • Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare.
  • Prepare patient treatment areas for use; prepare and clean medical equipment; dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy.
  • Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms.
  • When necessary for safe provision of care, employee will provide one on one care to patients.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
  • If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or a maximum of four months from the date of initial employment.
  • If working in Wisconsin, must be on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry with current work eligibility or a student nurse, currently enrolled at a school approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing, who has completed a basic nursing course and 16 hours of clinical experience.
