Meritus Health Inc. Nursing Assistant position in Med Surg/Telemetry offers meaningful, patient-centered care under licensed nursing supervision. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor vitals, document care, and support a safe, therapeutic environment.

This full-time role requires a Nursing Assistant program completion, Maryland CNA certification, and BLS CPR. Strong communication, compassion, and teamwork are essential in our fast-paced hospital setting with rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Nursing Assistant Program is required.
• Current Maryland CNA I or CNA II certification is required.
• Current BLS (CPR) certification required.
• Experience in healthcare is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and comfort while respecting patient dignity.
• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, hygiene).
• Obtain and record vital signs and collect specimens as directed.
• Assist with patient transport and various nursing procedures.
• Document patient care and observations in the medical record.

6:30 am-7:00 pm or 6:30 pm-7:00 am

Every other weekend and some holidays

Key Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and comfort measures while respecting each patient's dignity, individuality, and preferences.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, skin care, and elimination needs.
• Obtain and record vital signs and collect specimens as directed.
• Assist with patient transportation and support various nursing procedures.
• Apply non-sterile dressings, ice packs, heat treatments, and perform other delegated patient care activities.
• Accurately document patient care and observations in the medical record.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and well-stocked patient care environment.
• Respond promptly to call lights and patient requests.
• Communicate patient observations and concerns to the assigned nurse.
• Support patient rights, autonomy, dignity, values, and beliefs while providing care.
• Participate in continuing education and maintain required clinical competencies.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a Nursing Assistant Program required.

Experience

• Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Certifications

• Current Maryland Certified Nursing Assistant I (CNA I) or Certified Nursing Assistant II (CNA II) certification required.

Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and other physical activities associated with direct patient care.
