Job summary

Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, Virginia is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide patient care under supervision of a registered nurse. Duties include basic wound care, EKGs, phlebotomy support, and assisting with patient mobility and comfort.

You will record vitals and care in the EMR, maintain a safe environment, stock supplies, and support admissions, discharges, and transfers as needed. HS diploma, CPR/BLS required; CNA or equivalent certification preferred or EMT-B/CMA

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year healthcare experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification required at hire.
• CNA certification required or equivalent; EMT-B, CMA/RMA, or MA program acceptable alternatives.

Responsibilities

• Follow plan of care and perform treatments competently under RN supervision.
• Take vital signs, EKGs, and assist with basic phlebotomy and wound care.
• Document clinical activities in EMR per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment; stock supplies and assist with admissions, discharges, or transfers as directed.

Gloucester, VirginiaHiring Range$16.80 - $21.83/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.OverviewWorks under the supervision of Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager/Director in personal care of the patients and their environment (including those needing special precautions) and performs specified functions in tasks where there is validated competency including: simple wound care (i.e. cleaning of abrasions/laceration), EKGs, peripheral INT removal, basic phlebotomy, and extremity splinting. In addition, this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served in assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to the departmental policy and procedure. Promotes and maintains safe work environment for staff as well as our customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.What you will doDemonstrates understanding and knowledge of the technology systems necessary for patient data collection into EMR.Demonstrates the ability to follow plan of care to include performing treatments and procedures competently/independently under direction of RN. This may include the following procedures dependent upon unit/facility competency requirements vital signs, ice application, compresses, EKGs, drawing blood, specimen collection, etc.Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes.
